The Whole and The One
Making love

Makes everyone.

Gifts of days

We’re given.

All who have lived,

Just by being made,

Have effortlessly participated,

To give us the One -

Our own moment of self.

We owe the whole what?

Living for oneself,

Or living for the Whole?

Regardless of One’s aim,

We cannot escape

Contribution.

Each of us

From the beginning,

As seamless members

of the fluid Whole,

Are part of the first gift,

Receivers of life.

Patches woven

into an expanding lung,

Trapping the energy,

the soul - there being only

one spark - one eye.

Our one eye may see

Only the One,

Yet, always,

When a singe person looks,

The Whole sees.

If we wish to give

To others, or,

If we wish to give

Just to the One -

Either way,

We make ourselves.

Either as the Giver

or the Gift we remain;

And by being either

of these, we are both.

We are from time’s birth,

Every one of us,

A part of the gift

and also, as all receive

Their life – each ONE being

receivers of this gift of life

ourselves, we are all

Givers of this awakened

soul we share.

I often don’t know

What is giving.

What is right and helpful?

To avoid being selfish,

totally, a person

Would have to

So completely neglect

Themselves, and discontinue,

becoming;

And, in doing so, we

Become destroyed.

So, if I focus only

On what is right for the Whole,

Which means ‘Others’ in this,

Then I diminish and

Suffer Greater destruction.

But, as I am part of the Whole,

As I try to give only to the Whole,

The Whole would be diminished,

and Suffering Greater destruction.

Maybe the way to support

This whole human body,

Of many men living as The Many,

Is to love the One - the gift.

Right now, at this very moment

We are the gift - that is unwrapped

By every person ever born.

By appreciating our live,

and by selfishly enjoying,

Growing and maximizing,

This gift, we preserve

and grow it, not only for the

next receivers, but -

For the Whole, which is

Also all past givers

that have received.
